NFIS 2002-2003 Work Plans

Click here for the 2003-2004 Work Plan

Executive Summary

This work plan is developed following the outcome of the September 18, 2001 meeting of Canadian Council of Forest Ministers (CCFM) where support was given for the further development of NFIS beyond the progress reported on at the meeting.

The NFIS work plan for 2002-2003 is predicated upon the understanding that CCFM NFIS Steering Committee Members will be wholly engaged, committed to making progress on this initiative and will provide appropriate contact names as requested from time to time by the NFIS Project Office. All identified contacts will have been apprised by their Steering Committee Member of the support of their jurisdiction for the initiative and be ready to work with the NFIS Project Office and its associates in implementing an operational NFIS.

There are two dates that are recognized as critical to all CCFM members, those being associated with the CCFM Deputy Minister and Minister 2002 meetings in Nova Scotia during June and September, respectively. While these dates are critical for reporting purposes and the Project Office will conduct its work with the dates in mind, there are some activities that will not totally align with the meeting dates and therefore progress to date, rather than final, reports will be the products for the meetings.

A series of action items are set out for the coming fiscal year.
