NFIS has implemented a new search platform for the NFIS infrastructure, including the ability to search for documents within all NFIS domains, including CFSNet, provincial partners, and more.

2005

The Maps and Data page has undergoen significant improvement to search for data. New portals have also been added...HERE

The NFIS Website has been reorganized to better reflect what you may be looking for. Including a more manageable navigation system on the left of the page, and a navigation image at the top of this page.

2004

The NFIS website has undergone restructuring, including a menu system that more effectively groups related pages. The "NFIS Interactive Maps" page has been re-named to "Maps and Data".

New links that have been added to the site include:

• Applications (may require subsequent login) - Includes descriptions and links to live applications created by NFIS.
• Technical Team - Contains contact information for the NFIS Development Team.
• Project Demonstrations - Contains links to applications and projects. These projects are currently under development and may not always be available.

In August 2000 the Canadian Council of Forest Ministers (CCFM) agreed on the need to establish an information infrastructure, called the National Forest Information System (NFIS), to answer on matters relating to sustainable forest management in Canada.
